Big Spring National Park

Big Spring National Park
Big Spring National Park behind The Pub in Island Harbour is a collapsed cave with a natural spring. The Arawak Indians used this spring for water and decorated the walls of the cave with Spirit Eyes. The Big Spring project is open with a new walking area through the spring area.
Most of the petroglyphs depict faces, thought to represent the birth or death of a member of the community. The fresh-water spring supplied water to the island's Arawak Indians and other residents throughout the years until it stopped running after Hurricane Luis hit Anguilla in 1995.

The Anguilla National Trust heritage tour covers this site as well as the East End Pond Conservation Area and some ideal spots for birdwatching on the island. Tours must be arranged 24 hours in advance via telephone.

Directions: Drive to Island Harbour, the Park is very small, located just off the main road in the village and clearly marked with a sign.

Hours:     Mon-Fri, tours can be arranged with 24-hours notice
